Our Doc Savage fan event
will soon reach the 10
year milestone. It took Street & Smith the same amount of time to
publish "The Black, Black
Witch" in March 1943. It took 10 years for Bantam to publish
paperback #78 - "The Crimson Serpent" in October 1974. |

WHAT'S A DOC CON?
In 1998 a group of Doc Savage fans
in Phoenix, Arizona started a small annual event to celebrate their
interest in Doc Savage. Over the years they attracted enough interest
to keep the Doc Con going year after year. The attendence has been up
and down over the years, but regardless they pressed on undaunted. We
have now grown to a regular attendance of about 12 to 14. Our past
attendees have included;
Rob Smalley - AZ
Paul Cook - AZ
Jay Ryan - AZ
Jim Gould - CA
Evan Driscoll - AZ
Courtney
Rogers - AZ
Gary Stevenson - IL
Roger Blush - CA
Jeff Budd - CA
Ron Hanna - CA

Over half of these individuals are
repeat attendees. Our event agenda has varied over the years. In past
years the activities at Doc Con have been fun, interesting and varied.
As you read on you will see our agenda for this year. All this makes for great
fun and enriches the day. At every Doc Con you and expect to go home
with a lot of great Doc Savage swag.
Of course, the real value of going to Doc Con is the people. Until Doc
Con most of us had very little personal contact with other Doc fans, in
fact we were starved and isolated. That was the real reason we started
the Doc Con, to connect with friends and have fun enjoying our hero
together. We welcome you and encourage you to come join us. You will be
glad you did. We guarantee it.

GENERAL
INFO
This year we are holding the Doc Con at my
home in Chandler, Arizona. The first 2 Doc Cons were held at a nearby
hotel, but we changed that in year 3 and have been holding it in our
homes since. We have found our homes to be a much more comfortable and
enjoyable environment, and less expensive.
Since
this is a milestone year, our theme this year is
simply one of Reminiscence
& Celebration of
10 Years of Doc Con!
We
will look back at all the great times we have had together. Plus we
will also be looking ahead to the future. A detailed agenda is listed
further down on this page.
When you come to the Doc Con you should bring 3 things;
1.) Some cash for
the for sale items. And of course anything you want to sell or trade,
or give away. A lot of the guys like to make little things to give away.
2.) 1 or 2 Doc Savage or pulp-related items for the
raffle. If you want to partake in the raffle you need to contribute an
item or two. Depending on how big the group is we keep drawing until
everything is gone. Very often that means that most if not all come
away with more than one item.
3.) The 3rd thing to bring is your love of
Doc Savage. That's all it takes to enjoy a full day at this unique
event.
