The
story begins: "It was a little way station on
the transcontinental railroad
in western Canada. Only one man worked there. He had what railroaders
call
an "OS" job. About all he had to do was "OS" trains- telegraph the
dispatcher
that they were passing his point."
In The Red Skull
Ham mentions that he wouldn't mind a vacation in the Canadian Woods.
Well,
here it is folks. Doc and his men are on vacation! All six board a
train
for a trans-continental trip across Canada to British Columbia. Doc has
never met his uncle, Alex Savage or his cousin, Patricia
Savage who live in the
Pacific Northwest. Doc chooses the train for
the leisurely pace it offers. No doubt, the last several months have
worn
even these adventurers thin. But there will be no rest for Doc and his
men. Attempts are made on their lives. A strange mark of a werewolf's
face
is the culprit's calling card. Doc Savage stands accused by three
nervous
passengers, Senor and Senorita Oveja and El Rabanos, of a brutal
murder!
After a second murder, the three suddenly flee from the train. Doc and
his crew take up the chase. They learn that telegraph messages from
Doc's
uncle have been intercepted. It appears that someone is trying to keep
them from reaching Alex Savage and Patricia. Doc and his men battle El
Rabanos and the Ovejas, and an apparently unrelated gang of armed
villains.
The mystery leads to the coastal woodlands near Alex Savage's
homestead!
Doc and his aides arrive to find a young and beautiful Pat Savage in
fear
for her life, and Uncle Alex dead of what Pat describes as heart
failure.
Fending off constant attacks by their foes the mystery begins to
unfold.
They must fathom the purpose of a strange ivory cube and it's link to
the
lost treasure of the pirate Henry Morgan!
